Autism is a common way of being in the world that is being increasingly recognised and worked with in therapy. However, autistic clients' experiences of counselling is not always as inclusive and helpful as we might hope, and this is largely down to a lack of knowledge and experience on the counsellor's part. This course aims to equip you with a good grounding, confidence and insight into working effectively within autistic clients.

This introductory workshop takes a welcoming and inviting look at the fascinating world of video gaming culture. We will examine why we play games, demystify different game genres, understand the different player types and explore the risks and benefits of gaming. We will take a considered look at the case for gaming addiction, explore the social side of gaming and discuss concerns about gaming safely. Holly Myfield, a therapist and avid gamer, will lead this workshop, and create plenty of opportunities for discussion and sharing your own experiences. Aimed mainly at practitioners working with gamers, this workshop has been attended in the past by Counsellors, Parents, Mental Health Practitioners, Teachers and anyone with an interest in learning more about gaming or working with Children and Young People.
