Asperger's, Autism and Therapy
In recent years I have come to specialise in working with Asperger's, sometimes known as ASD 1. Approximately 50% of my practice is now working with this group, and issues range from anxiety, depression, relationship and work troubles, loss, feeling isolated, 'not good enough' or not connected in a way that suits their way of being. Some people come to me with a diagnosis of Asperger's from childhood, but many more are now coming forward with either a diagnosis in adulthood, or wondering if they might have Asperger's and are contemplating finding out more. In addition, I work a great deal with those who have someone with Asperger's in their lives, maybe a parent, child, partner or colleague.
Whatever the circumstances, finding a way of being that suits you, and helps you towards the life you want is often the goal. The issues you encounter can often benefit from working with someone with a passion, interest and expertise in autism. In addition to my clinical work, I am now undertaking a MSc in Autism, developed by leading expert Professor Digby Tantum and positively reviewed by the National Autistic Society to further support my work in this area.
